*The gallery is incredible…worth checking out if you love animals. The wildlife photos are gorgeous! I was very impressed. I also hadn’t been to Abbot Kinney blvd in such a long time. It is full of all kinds of wonderful stores.. I had fun just shopping up and down the street.

I have a photo of Pee Wee (my senior dog rescue) that will be selling…
I will post the photo here along with Pee Wees rescue story:
PeeWee’s Story
I have a very special place in my heart especially for the elderly un-adoptable pets. I went to the South Los Angeles animal shelter knowing they get so many animals that the euthanasia rate was very high. I saw little PeeWee; skin and bones, tumors and scabs all over, huddled and shaking in the corner of her cage that she shared with a big German Shepherd and a huge Rottweiler! The big dogs impound cards said “found with drugs”. PeeWees card said she was 10-12 years old-a cocker spaniel mix. I had to get her out of there even if she only had a couple of months to live. At least she could die in a happy home.
When we brought Pee Wee home she was a mess. She had big tumors all over and scabs. Her teeth were all crooked and rotten. She was skin and bones. Her nails were real long. She stunk! If she did have a home before ending up in the shelter it wasn’t a good one.
I gave her a bath in which tons of mud and dirt came out. I gave her a nice hair cut. I still thought she wasn’t going to live very long so I at least thought I would get her all cleaned up to die, after all, they determined her age to be around 10-12 and she was in such poor shape. To our amazement, Pee Wee came alive. She became extremely happy and full of energy. She could take long walks with us and was just so determined to keep up with us in all of our activities.
I had an old antique chair that my mom gave me and I thought Pee Wee, being the antique that she was, would look cute on it especially in front of my antique garage door!. I did a photo shoot with her sitting on the chair. This was the photograph that prompted me to start a series of shots of “pets on chairs” as I have an obsession with both! I entered Pee Wees photograph into the International Photography Awards and the shot was awarded 2nd place in the Pets category. Who would have thought that this little dog who started out so ugly and sad could then go and win an international award? Pee Wee gave us 3 years of joy! What a lesson we learned from PeeWee.
