Having to struggle quite a lot in pursuing my dreams over the years, I thought I’d better go back to school and get a registered nursing degree to be on the “safe side”-(my mom was a wonderful nurse). This recession/depression was very scary. Its a long story on my journey to how I ended up where I am today so I’ll save that for a book I’ll write someday.

*Being a passionate photographer and having to go to school to do something that was not my true desire was really tough. I thought I would be able to do both but I found that school takes up way too much of your time. It became extremely depressing and downright “torturous” to study chemistry… when all I could think of was what I COULD BE DOING with my photography!! I finally just decided that I need to pursue my dreams at whatever costs. I learned a valuable lesson in “confidence” by being in school something so critical when running a business! While spending hours and hours studying to get As I realized just what I should have been doing in my photography that I hadn’t done before!

* So I lost some time and spent more money but I have to say my time off was crucial in getting me back on the right track. I am no longer in school and ready to follow my dreams- so here we go again!

*I have a lot of great plans so we’ll see what happens!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Photo shoot with Rachels “kids”

leave a comment »

I had the pleasure of working with Rachel, a dedicated volunteer with Rover Rescue of Redondo Beach. She attempted fostering but wasn’t very good at it! Pookie became a part of her family! Who could resist Pookie. Here are a few of Miss Ellies favorites. Thanks Rachel and adorable kids for a very rewarding photo shoot. The “kids” had so much personality!!

LITTLE RESCUED KITTY FINALLY APPEARS!

I shot these images in June and finally had a chance tonight to get them up …These are images that are part of a kitty book I’m working on. This little kitty was a part of our neighborhood “out of control” kitty population. We think we have a handle on it now. We caught the “culprits” and had them spayed or neutered..Hopefully we got them all.

This particular kitty I heard crying. I went next door to try and find him. He ran out from under some bushes and into my lap. I took him in to take care of him as I believe he was only a month or so years old. We really didn’t plan on keeping him but he’s still here only a lot bigger!!! He loves the dogs, and one of the dogs loves him, but our pit bull dog is tired of him…Kitty bites her and she’s too sweet to put him in his place! She just runs away from him. I have some real cute photos of the two of them, but that may take another 6 months to display! haha

Got a couple of “hero” shots and the rest are “out takes” just for fun.

Rescued Cat Halloween card give-away!

leave a comment »

I created a greeting card line that I called Pound Pets as it features all animals that are rescued or adopted from animal shelters or rescue groups. I published it myself which I realize was not the best way to go. I have sold out of most of the cards but I have some still left that I use for give-aways…I have some Halloween cards (some blank/some say Boo!). I will give these to the first 3 shelters or rescues that I hear from….either by my email, or left as a comment here.

These are square (something I thought would be creative but instead I found out the post office charges more for square cards). so be aware of that. The cards would be great to put in adoption bags/ goodie bags this month, or maybe you have a Halloween event to promote.

The cards are free so the extra postage shouldn’t be too bad. I’m not sure what it is at this time….not much

Just trying to clean up my desktop and came across little Lorenzos photo….He was adopted from Rover Rescue of Redondo Beach, Ca..I probably posted him here already but here he is again. He always brings a smile to my face.

I’m trying to get my images organized and needless to say I am very overwhelmed…
but here’s someone cute to look at while I try and figure out how to organize all my images. I’m thinking of running away to a cabin somewhere, as thats

20th century props

leave a comment »

My husband and I both got sick after our trip. I thought it was just the heat but we actually came down with some bad cold/flu….the heat didn’t help!

Once again I am sad as I found out a beloved prop house is liquidating!
I guess I moved to California at a good time. When I got here even though it was another recession, I still got a lot of work as a set decorator and props person…I had never seen anything like the prop houses. I love them. I had so much fun running around to them and seeing what incredible stuff they had. It was truly one of my joys of living in California.

With changes in the movie industry, (going to other states…) crappy economy and so much more reality TV shows, I’m so afraid more and more prop houses may close.

I feel so bad for the owner of this prop house. I saw him interviewed and it was in his family for so long and the joy of his life! A wonderful and fun business down the drain…How many more?
